World Changers Receive Thank You for Improving Clovis Lives
Three hundred junior high, high school, and college students from around the country will be honored tomorrow (7/3) evening at Clovis North High School for their week’s worth of hard work in renovating 23 Clovis homes in lower income neighborhoods. These young people, part of the World Changers organization, actually paid their own expenses to come to Clovis and paint houses, replace roofs, and provide hope to area residents in need. The celebration at 7:30 p.m. will include families and city leaders grateful for their help. Clovis City Councilmember Lynne Ashbeck will be among the dignitaries on hand to address the group.
The Clovis Community Development Agency (CCDA) teamed up with World Changers for the neighborhood upgrades. CCDA provided the paint, lumber, and other supplies for the local projects. CCDA also identified the people/families most in need of the assistance.
The scope of this project is something financially the City could not have accomplished on its own. At the same time, this venture allowed World Changers to fulfill its objective of offering first-rate mission experiences to meet the physical and spiritual needs of others.
World Changers is a volunteer ministry of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. It began in Tennessee 19 years ago with 137 volunteers. This year, more than 25,000 participants are taking part in more than 100 projects across the country. This is the sixth time the World Changers organization has taken on a task like this in Clovis, and it’s the only World Changers’ project of its kind in the San Joaquin Valley!
Many thanks to Lowe’s, Fosters Freeze, Classic Catering, and Wild Water Adventures for their support.
