K-Mart Armed Robbers Arrested in Fresno on a Search Warrant
Clovis Police Patrol officers today arrested 37-year-old Cedric Salgado and 25-year-old Megan McCarty at their Fresno home in the 300 block of N. Fordham for a robbery at the K-Mart store on Shaw Avenue Friday (6/26) night. The two were trying to steal video games. But when Salgado pulled a knife and tried to stab a security guard before fleeing with the loot, it became an armed robbery. Following up on the investigation they began, patrol officers wrote the search warrant and apprehended the pair. K-9 Bronco searched the home. Officers, assisted by police detectives, seized knives, gang paraphernalia and a methamphetamine pipe. They found no goods taken from K-mart.
About 8 o’clock Friday night, Salgado and McCarty, a former K-Mart employee fired for shoplifting, went to the electronics section of the store where they began taking Nintendo games out of their boxes and putting the empty boxes back on the shelves. McCarty acted as the lookout. Loss prevention officers stopped her at the door. A security guard tried to stop Salgado when he attempted to leave, but the suspect pulled a knife and began slashing at the guard. Fortunately, the man escaped injury.
Salgado is in the Fresno County Jail facing charges of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. McCarty was cited and released for possession of a methamphetamine pipe and an unrelated warrant. Officers plan to ask the Fresno County District Attorney for gang enhancements against the pair, too.
